Norquay's earliest opening ever: Ski season 2020 is here
YES! It Is happening!
We don’t have to look far for signs of winter because here @SnowSeekers we are stoked that this recent gift of snowfall in western Canada and the Alberta Rockies means we can ski or ride – like tomorrow.
@MntNorquay opens Saturday, Oct 24 - the earliest opening in their 95-year history.
Cold temperatures, some natural snow and snowmaking means Norquay is opening the earliest ever.
Ironically, its summer operations just closed Oct. 11, so that’s not much downtime to get into a whole new season, but they’re making it happen. "And that night it started to snow and hasn't stopped since!" says Norquay's Simon Moffatt. "Over half a metre of snow over the past two weeks, and it hasn’t stopped."
“The snow came early, so we got ready early,” says Moffatt. “Thanks to all the snowfall and chilly temps we’ve seen lately, we’ve been busy enhancing the natural conditions with lots of snow-making to get ready for the big day.”
Norquay like other ski resorts wants to remind folks that skiing will be different this year. Norquay is encouraging skiers to pack a lunch and masks will be mandatory in line and on the lifts.

As you can see from these screenshots, it’s not just Norquay who is seeing the POW! Everyone's getting some winter snow love.
