WHISTLER, BC — I call Whistler “Canada’s Vegas” due to the scope of fun to be had both on and off the mountain. The resort’s 200 hundred runs almost match the amount of options you have for dinner, après spots and nightlife venues.
If you are looking to get out and get funky, head on in to The Savage Beagle; it’s a night spot with both an upstairs component to it and a downstairs. Located at the southend of the village, close to the Delta Hotel, the Beagle is always spinning some phat tunes and plays home to a happening crowd.
Not so young
If you are looking for a little more mature atmosphere but still a rocking spot, head over to Buffalo Bill’s – with a huge dance floor and music that will keep you moving till the early hours.
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler is home to Merlin’s, a legendary hot spot with staff that encourage on-the-bar dancing and features plates of nachos like you’ve never seen.
The slopes of WhistlerBlackcomb offer some of the best skiing and riding on Canada’s west coast. RANDY LINCKS,Tourism BC |
As for après spots, you can’t beat the Garibaldi Lift Company (GLC) or the Long Horn Saloon, both located right at the resort base of the mountains. bsp;If you are heading to Whistler/Blackcomb’s legendary World Ski & Snowboard Festival in April, the massive patios at the GLC and Long Horn’s are stellar spots to hang out for the concerts, or any of the other action taking place in skiers plaza (right at the base of Blackcomb/Whistler).
A little bit o the green
Its right in this area you will also find the Dubh Linn Gate and as Whistler’s only Irish pub, it makes for a hopping destination for either your après spot of choice or for the night’s festivities.
Don’t be shy, strike up a conversation with a local on the chair, your server at dinner or your hotel staff, they are always the best connections to help find exactly what you are looking for.
