SNOWSEEKERS
Terrace sits on the Skeena River amidst the Coast Mountain Range in Norther British Columbia. For your alpine fix, a trip 35kms west of Terrace will be well worth it: Shames Mountain receives an average snowfall of 1,200cm (or 480 in) annually. If you don’t ski or snowboard, or you simply want to mix it up, there’s plenty more to explore in the area as these locals and visitors will tell you:
The region can be accessed via Northwest Regional Airport Terrace-Kitimat and is only 3 nautical miles south of Terrace.
Kitsumkalum Lake (aka Kalum Lake) is 25km north of Terrace with gorgeous views, trails to explore, and a small user maintained campground.
A short way past Kitsumkalum Lake, you can hit up Wesach Falls!
The Exchamsiks River flows into the Skeena River just 56km west of Terrace and the highway follows along.
Or if you’re more into a mechanized form of transport, snowmobiling’s big too!
Whatever you’re into, it’s an area with plenty of outdoor love to offer.
