SUN PEAKS, BC - The High Roller Mountain Marathon kicks off the 5th Annual Sun Peaks Family Cup today, presented by Travelplan, Air Canada, the Delta Sun Peaks Resort and Sun Peaks Resort Corporation.
The five days of the Family Cup will have families donning their home country colours as they participate in the big recreation race on Saturday, Jan. 8 and all of the activities leading up to Race Day.
Today’s High Roller Mountain Marathon will have participants racing around all three mountains to different checkpoints where they will roll the dice and earn points. And with fresh snow in the forecast, it’s definitely bound to be a marathon race for Family Cup participants!
The Family Cup Race on Saturday, Jan. 8 is the marquee event of the festival, where competitors range from four years old to 71 years old. Individuals, teams, and families compete in the recreational Giant Slalom Race. In the 2010 Family Cup, over 170 competitors from Canada, Australia and New Zealand competed, with Australia taking home the top prize.
