SnowSeekers takes on Corus Entertainment and one of the world’s leading video game makers at tonight’s Digital Alberta Media Awards
– June 6, 2011
EDMONTON, AB – SnowSeekers has been nominated for two Digital Alberta Awards, an event that happens this evening in Calgary. The first nomination is for SnowSeekers TV, which is now in its third season with SHAW Media and is also viewable on www.snowseekers.ca. These weekly short-form episodes profile Alberta and BC’s winter destinations and have been nominated for “Best in Cross-Platform” production. The other nomination, also in the Cross-Platform category, is for the SnowSeekers smartphone apps—the SnowSeekers Go-Guides—which are available for free across BlackBerry, Android, and iPhone.
“We received a nomination at last year’s Digital Alberta Awards for ‘Best New App,’ so to be recognized two years in a row is quite the honour,” said SnowSeekers’ President Jim Barr. “Through this summer and we are strengthening the integration between our website, flourishing social media following, and apps to produce some stellar business development potentials for our advertisers and sponsors. Even more of an honour for SnowSeekers is that we’ve been nominated in this cross-platform category alongside Corus Entertainment and BioWare, owned by Electronic Arts, one of the world’s biggest video game makers.”
The awards are presented by Digital Alberta, an industry-led organization devoted to promoting and connecting the thriving digital media community across Alberta. Sponsors of the event include the Canadian Marketing Association, Adobe, The Canadian Media Fund, and Alberta’s Culture and Community Spirit Ministry—responsible for film and media development.
