SilverStar gets SEISMIC with big, 10-day spring skiing party

SilverStar, BC   Back for their fourth SEISMIC show at SilverStar, Tim Livingstone and David Rollinson—the two DJs behind SkiiTour—now travel the world playing ski resorts, but spinnin' at SilverStar stands out as unique for them.

"I remember the first time we played; it was coming out of COVID and there were no indoor dance shows allowed, however no one said you couldn't dance outside," explains Livingstone, reminiscing with me about SkiiTour's past SEISMIC experiences.

"Everyone drove in from all over BC and our afternoon show in the village was so loose. There were so many people on stage dancing with us, organizers were worried the stage might collapse."

I was at that show; it was as rad as Livingstone is talking about. And that is indicative of the overall vibes at SEISMIC, one of the best spring skiing festivals in BC and one of the reasons I chose to spend my winters here as a resident of the snow globe.

So here's your chance to book a soul shaking getaway; lock in for SilverStar's SEISMIC Spring Mountain Festival now. #morecowbell #seismic

Why? Because it's the place where spring is the STAR. SilverStar has been my basecamp for three seasons now, and a big piece of that decision in moving here was the spring scene. It's like a season all its own.

Sun, snow and fun; especially when their festival season is on and SEISMIC is shaking things up!

Once you book in and are getting set to visit what I call the "Star" aka SilverStar, don't forget your best onesie or your vintage ski gear. It's pretty much SEISMIC dress code for any of the bands or acts who play the fest.

The SEISMIC dress code is all about fun. Show up as your most authentic self and get ready to party.

"SilverStar's SEISMIC Festival is a never-ending party, all fun all the time," explains a member of the Star's media team, Meg Sutherland.

That is one of the best parts of SEISMIC, all the shows are mostly outside, with beer gardens, and you are in the snow sitting back in one of those Adirondack chairs kicking it with old friends, or on the dance floor making new ones.

"Especially for those not local to here, there is nothing like what SilverStar's community has, and what the rest of BC has for that matter," invites Sutherland.

"It's magical, the village is so unique, with the colours and the lights, so when you come here you are awestruck looking around."

When you go

It's Sutherland's role to know the mountain, and when we caught up on the phone to produce this story, she took the call on the mountain, skiing back down to her office.

While she did that, she took me for a run down one of her picks for three top spring cruisers, so when you go, you'll know the top spring SilverStar cruisers to hit:

1. Spring cruiser run one, Big Dipper (blue): "this run is so beautiful in the morning if you get up early, as you head over the first lip on the run with the sun coming up and fresh corduroy; it's just magic."

2. Run two, The Face (black diamond): "When it's groomed, it's so wicked you can rip." The Face is also on the front of the mountain, so in the morning and all day, you'll be ripping into the sun.

3. Run three, Whiskey Jack and a BONUS fourth, Sundance (both blues): "Great runs side by side for those moving from green to a blue level of skiing with lots of different areas you can pop off into that are great for any level of shredder, including the gladed runs Gopher Glades and Spruce Meadows."

SEISMIC accommodation deals are available now through SilverStar, and includes a front row seat for all the shows… even though you won't need any tickets, as all the live music is free including a double-duty day Saturday, April 5 with SkiiTour playing après that afternoon on the snow in the villager and another complementary set that night at The Red Antler on-mountain bar.

"Book your accommodations early," recommends Sutherland.

And to make it easy, SilverStar is offering 20% off any accommodation March 6 through close April 6.
