Seekers Media—the founders of media brands SnowSeekers and FestivalSeekers—has cemented content distribution agreements with Getty Images and Troy Media
Edmonton, September 16, 2011 — Seekers Media prides itself on creating outstanding content that generates a travel urge from its audience. Since its launch in December of 2008 Seekers Media has amassed a sizable following to its TV series’, online e-newsmagazines, smartphone apps and social media channels by working with hundreds of partners from hotels, attractions, and destination across Alberta and BC. Now those partners are going to see their opportunities reach global travelers via these partnerships with Getty Images and Troy Media.
“What these content distribution agreements mean is that a lot more people are going to have the chance to read and experience the content we create,” explains Seekers Media’s president and founder Jim Barr. Seekers Media formed its partnership with Getty to ensure that its library of high definition footage (several hours worth) can get into the hands of other companies who can put it to use around the world. Getty Images is a provider of stock images and video for advertising agencies, media, and corporate clients (communications and marketing departments). Launched five years ago, Getty has become a global powerhouse as a major supplier of high-quality content.
“Our SnowSeekers.ca e-newsmagazine is home to over 1,200 editorial pages on Alberta and BC winter travel opportunities and we look forward to our partnership with Troy because it will ensure more people have the chance to read this content and become inspired to make Western Canada their travel destination of choice.” Troy Media (think Reuters) has connections to over 2,200 media outlets and over 6,000 journalists globally who “subscribe to their feed”. Each week, articles and columns distributed by Troy Media are read by more than 4.8 million readers and by the end of August 2011, Troy’s total viewership was over 650 million.
“Seekers Media has established itself as a very credible and well known source for content, first with snow and now with festivals (FestivalSeekers),” explains Troy Media’s Editor-in-Chief Doug Firby. “We needed to boost our travel and recreation coverage and really didn’t have the expertise to do it. Seekers brings this to the table for us.”
