Rock 'n' roll weekend with Style Experience, ski resort openings
Edmonton, AB — When Canada Snowboard comes to town, they put on a show! Just ask Albertans who attended The Style Experience in Edmonton over the last weekend. Outdoing their visit last year, this year saw a bigger jump, a bigger show and a three-act concert!
Surpassing last year's world record big air ramp, this year's jump gave competitors a longer, faster run in and bigger air time. Add to that a new rail jam, complete with epic DJ duo SkiiTour rocking Commonwealth Stadium with their Juno-nominated party sound (a long time fave among skiers and snowboarders across Western Canada) and this was the event to be at this December weekend!
But the party doesn’t stop there, it’s just getting started. More ski resorts opened over the weekend, and more are set for the weekend ahead. Let's strap in!
Nic “Razz” Laframboise entertained the hometown crowd with his now-trademark Oilers helmet and jersey as he competed in the finals. But it was Hasegawa Taiga from Japan who claimed top spot. Laframboise and Brearley, the two Canadians in the mens’ finals, placed 6th and 7th, respectively.
On the women’s side, last year’s gold medal winner Jasmine Baird placed 7th, and Laurie Blouin came in at 8th spot.
With shred stoke high, the next stop takes us to the mountains.
