Meet Stephanie Knaak |
I'm a lifelong city girl recently turned mountainite. Two and a half years ago my husband and I moved with our two teenage kids from Calgary to Golden BC. We wanted to breathe the fresh mountain air and experience the joys of small town community living. It was one of the best decisions we've ever made. I'm a full-time working mom with a busy, active family. I work as a research consultant with specialties in health, parenting culture and mental health stigma. When I'm not working, I'm out skiiing, biking, snowshoeing or hiking -- often with our newest family addition, a one-year-old Bernese cross pup who loves to play in the snow as much as the rest of her family. Blogging about Golden is another thing I do for fun.

How long have you been producing content for?
I did one winter producing content for Seekers. I've been blogging about Golden on www.thisgoldenlife.ca for about a year now.
What are some of the media outlets you work with
I've got my own website, #thisgoldenlife (http://www.thisgoldenlife.ca). And I'm a blogger for the Huffington Post (http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/stephanie-knaak/)
Most of the the other writing I do is academic in nature, published in journals read mainly by other academic types.
What is a favourite experience being a journalist
Getting out and experiencing new things and hearing people's stories. It's exciting to learn about all the great things going on in Golden.
Why do you contribute to Snow and FestivalSeekers
The Seekers team is a super fun group of people. They're just a great bunch to work with.
What made you start your blog/website
I'm super pumped about Golden BC and all it has to offer -- not just for tourists and visitors, but for families and other people thinking about settling and building their lives here. I started #thisgoldenlife (www.thisgoldenlife.ca) a way to explore and celebrate what makes Golden so special.
