Meet Leigh McAdam |
Leigh long ago abandoned a career as a geologist, dietitian and hands on owner of a successful small business to follow her passion for travel, adventure and the outdoors. As the founder and editor of HikeBikeTravel.com she made the leap to author in December 2014. Now that she’s completed her first book, Discover Canada: 100 Inspiring Outdoor Adventures, available in stores across Canada, she looks forward to less time on the computer and more time outdoors, participating in adventures around the world.
Leigh is a member of TMAC , SATW and the Professional Travel Bloggers Association. She currently resides in Calgary.

How long have you been producing content for?
I started my blog in 2009 though I knew nothing about social media, marketing or photography when I started. Since then I've taken loads of photography courses and written on average three blogs a week since 2010. In December 2014 my book Discover Canada: 100 Inspiring Outdoor Adventures was released by Granville Publishing.
What are some of the media outlets you work with
I've written for up! (West Jet) and loads of online sites including Reader's Digest Online, BC Living, Canoeroots Magazine, Healthy Directions and My Itchy Travel Feet.
What is a favourite experience being a journalist
Last year I had a great time cat skiing at Castle Mountain with some of the most passionate skiers I've ever met. Another outstanding experience involved my first time ice-climbing in Maligne Canyon. It was just me, two guides and a giant icicle. Great fun and very empowering!
Why do you contribute to Snow and FestivalSeekers
I'm always up for new experiences so I love it when an article requires an on the ground, behind-the scenes visit.
What made you start a blog
I had no idea what I was getting into so it was pretty basic initially - share my passion for outdoor adventure and travel. But it's morphed into something very different. Now I love it for the people I meet both in person and virtually, the expertise I've developed in a range of areas and the opportunities I've had for some really interesting outdoor adventures.
