That's the first thing a person reads when they visit Freewheel's web site, and no truer words could be spoken. Freewheel is more than a ski and board/bike shop, it's a community of like-minded adventure enthusiasts who just want to spread the stoke.
"We're stoked if you're stoked," said Wendy Hall, owner of Freewheel. "We don't try to turn you into a extreme skier, or try to force you into buying gear that you don't really need. We love it if you love what you do, and if we can help you do that, that's great."

From bikes to boards to skis
Freewheel started as a bike shop, and would close for about five months every winter. But once the snowboard boom hit Jasper in the early 90s, they started selling boards exclusively throughout the winter.
"It was a big turning point for the store, in that it allowed us to become a full-service, year-round retailer. We kept the same amazing customer service, the same keeping-it-real sort of vibe, but we were just selling skis and snowboards instead of bikes."
Jasper's original twin-tip ski shop, Freewheel started selling skis as well as boards in the late 90s. They specialize in freestyle and big fat powder skis. They carry Line, K2 (twin-tip and big mountain), and Salomon skis; Burton, Rome, GNU, and Nitro snowboards; and Burton, Volcom, Roxy, Quiksilver, and West Beach clothing.

Freewheel prides itself on being the best repair shop in Jasper. After years of claiming that they can "fix any bike known to man," that confidence has spread to skis and snowboards. They're a full-service repair shop. They're the snowboard experts.

But where Freewheel really stands out is there staff. I know, you'll hear or read this about almost any store ever, but trust me, with Freewheel, it's no joke.
"All our staff submerge themselves in the lifestyle. We pride ourselves on being customer-service oriented. You have to be. In order to give your customer the right product, you have to get to know them a little bit first. We like to have a good time with it."
