Castle Mountain and surrounding areas offer cosy accommodations. |
When it comes time to rest, Castle Mountain offers a collection of accommodation options that will fit any budget.
“We are known for being Alberta’s only true ski-in, ski-out destination,” said Mariko Fujimaki, who operates Castle Mountain Central Reservations. “We offer slope-side accommodation via our town homes for rent, which can sleep a large group or family.”
Group appeal
The town homes are new to the mountain, extremely well laid out and priced right for a group. My call is it’s the best way to go. Each one is fully furnished and equipped with an outdoor hot tub and full kitchens.
This way, the group can all stay together and still have the amenities of home and more. I know I don’t have a hot tub that sits outside in a spectacular mountain setting.
Over at Fujimaki’s other property, Castle Mountain Ski Lodge & Hostel features hostel-style dorm accommodations that are sure to please any budget. For some additional privacy, check into the lodge’s clean and spacious single or double bedrooms, equipped with satellite TV and DVD players. Downstairs in this hostel hotel hybrid, snow seekers will find a games room, laundry and a full kitchen to fix up your own dinner or breakfast. Even more options
In addition to slope side accommodations, the area around Castle Mountain can put you in the front seat of a stay with the locals. The resort itself offers up many great ski and stay packages with neighbouring hotels and lodges, but for an authentic experience, you may want to stay at one of the many Bed & Breakfasts in the area.
An example of this would be Angler’s Ridge Bed & Breakfast and its hostess with the mostest, Wendy Meerveld. Not only does Meerveld’s place feature some excellent food and a relaxing environment to rest those legs after your assault on the Castle, but she can also provide some invaluable adventure options, pointing you in the direction of premium sledding and cross-country ski trails, which are in abundance in the area, and of course, where the best snow is at on Castle.
