DOC POW
REVELSTOKE, BC — From shredding up the snow on sticks, a board or by sled, a guy is going to get hungry and here in Revelstoke, there are more than a few choices to keep you fueled.
Everyday’s got to start with breakfast and if you are looking to fill the gap with something a little unique then make a stop into the Frontier Restaurant for the legendary tater cakes.
These tasty morsels are like McDonald’s hash browns on some serious steroids – filled with ham, cheese, green peppers or a tonne of other fixings for whatever you are after. Tater cakes are the perfect fix after maybe a few wobbly pops from the night before.
New spot ups the ante on fun
A great place for a beverage and a little relaxation, pay a visit to the Village Idiot Bar & Grill. It’s a new spot that serves up a great atmosphere with some stellar menu options.
“This town attracts the right people,” said manager Eric Stone over a brew in this lively watering hole. “Revelstoke has an energy about it that is palatable. And as for this place, people come here for our atmosphere and our pizza.”
The pizzas are loaded and the atmosphere is complemented by some quality furniture, mostly made from old skis with one really important fixture that comes in handy for any stellar après session – a shot ski.

This restaurant/pub is also suited for families, with a license that allows for the little ones until a certain hour. They’ll enjoy the colouring contests and everyone, regardless of age, will really dig the decor of this place.
Restaurant offers a cultural twist
When it comes to dining in style, the place to head to is the One Twelve, located in the Regent Inn. This 35-year-old fixture on the town landscape impresses hands down. The environment has been freshly renovated and includes local cedar and a raised ceiling with the art of several of Revelstoke’s finest photographers on the walls.
The unique environment is paired up with a stellar menu, best known for its steaks and its lamb said restaurant GM, Brady Beruschi, adding, “We have a big focus on Okanagan wines here.”
And from behind the bar, be sure to hit up the bartender for a taste of the local brew, Mount Begbie – founded in 1996 right here in Revy by Bart and Tracey Larson.
Bart, who trained as a nuclear physicist, now puts his molecular engineering talents to a much different use, producing top notch suds that have grabbed the attention of the Vancouver Province and the Globe and Mail.
Back on to One Twelve’s impressive menu; after a monumental day on the slopes I couldn’t resist the bone-in sirloin topped with crab, asparagus and a béarnaise sauce. Pair this up with a glass of fine Okanagan red and you’ve got a match made in heaven, certainly enough to have you re-fueled and satisfied.
