The aftermath of that October storm [PHOTOS]
The forecasts had called for an epic weather system moving through Western Canada and we knew a lot of precipitation was coming, it was just a question of how much of it would be snow in the mountains where it counts.
The answer? LOTS.
In the last week, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort got hit with 88 cm of snow! Theyre reporting a base of 68 cm and theyve been doing avalanche control. See their scheduled opening day.

Meanwhile, Fernie Alpine Resort was hit with 35 cm in 24 hours right on the tail end of that storm.
And while there was plenty of snow to be seen elsewhere, the resorts aren't reporting them just yet. For some, its still a little early for the snow to actually stick. Still, its a promising start to the season if the La Niña reports are to be believed.
For now, the skies have cleared and were getting a glimpse of the beauty Mother Nature gifted us. Be sure to stay up to date on opening dates throughout BC and Alberta!
